Wakehurst FC Summer Soccer Competition 2020

Wakehurst Football Club will be running their annual Summer Soccer Competition again this year and has partnered with the MWFRA to provide referees for the competition.

The competition will run on Tuesdays from the 20th October to the 15th December and also from the 26th January to the 16th March.

Wakehurst Summer Soccer follows a European small-sided competition model whereby teams do not necessarily play in their own age group but rather the schedule is determined each week based on previous weeks results. So teams consistently winning are put up age groups or down if they are losing.

If you are interested in officiating in this summer competition, please note the following:

  • You must be a currently accredited and 2020 registered referee. Preference will be given to those referees who have been active during the winter season.
  • Payment for each game is $25.00 plus $10 if you are scheduled to assist with set-up prior to the first game.
  • Junior referees must be available from 3.50pm as they may be required to assist with set-up.
  • Senior referees may be asked to assist players with pack-down at the end of the night.
  • One junior referee will also be appointed to set-up and then as stand-by referee. The stand-by referee is required to stay at the field until the 2nd game has kicked off. They will be paid for set-up and 1 game. The stand-by referee is there in case anyone is running late or is unable to attend at the last minute.
  • All referees wishing to be appointed to Wakehurst Summer Soccer will be required to attend a referee briefing on 18th October (date and time to be confirmed).
  • All referees are expected to referee in full MWFRA uniform
  • Appointments will be done via MatchRef, published over the weekend prior to the Tuesday so availability should be entered by Friday midnight.
  • Payment will be via EFT to your bank account.
  • Usually we have more junior referees interested thanĀ  games so some may only receive appointments every second week. However Wakehurst is expecting more teams this year and therefore more referees may be required.
  • If you have any further questions please contact Sigrid Mulherin – admin@mwfra.org.au

Interested referees can submit an Expression of Interest here.
