Which type of referee am I?

Junior referees are referees who are between 14 and 18 years old as at December 31, 2021.

Team referees are nominated team referees, fulfilling duties as required by the MWFA.

Senior appointable referees are at least 19 years old on December 31, 2021, and are not otherwise team referees.

Already have a refereeing qualification?

If you already have a valid refereeing qualification, you may be eligible to transfer into our branch without needing to undertake another course. Please read our information here. You can check the status of your FFA qualification here.

The MWFRA conducts entry level courses prior to the beginning of each local football season in February and March.

These courses are officially sanctioned by Football Federation Australia and participants will obtain the FFA Level 4 Referee Accreditation upon successful completion of the course.

This level of accreditation enables holders to be appointed by the MWFRA to any officially sanctioned match, though appointment to matches at higher levels will depend on technical competence.

Entry level courses are open to both adults and children but prospective junior referees in 2020 must be at least 14 years of age on December 31, 2020 to be eligible to undertake the course.

Prospective Referees aged 14-18 in 2020 should complete an Application Form here.

Prospective Senior and Team Referees can find links to courses and instructions on how to referee here.
