Thank you for your interest in refereeing with the MWFRA. We are an organisation with over 600 passionate members with a vast range of football experiences, who are responsible for providing referees for U12 to adult matches sanctioned by the Manly Warringah Football Association.

Which type of referee am I?

Junior referees are referees who are between 14 and 18 years old as at December 31, 2023.

Team referees are nominated team referees, fulfilling duties as required by the MWFA.

Senior appointable referees are at least 19 years old on December 31, 2023, and are not otherwise team referees.

Already have a refereeing qualification?

If you already have a valid refereeing qualification, you may be eligible to transfer into our branch without needing to undertake another course. Please read our information here. You can check the status of your FFA qualification here.

How to become a Referee?

To become an accredited referee you must complete the Level 4 (Entry Level) Referee Course. The MWFRA runs up to 6 courses prior to each season for junior, senior and team referees to attend. Course dates and venues will be published in late January.  If you wish to be notified when course dates are finalised, please complete the Expression of Interest form here: EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

To complete the requirements of the accreditation you will need to:

  1. Complete the on-line LOTG quiz
  2. Complete the MWFRA Application form (juniors only)
  3. Register and complete the on-line Level 4 Referee Course
  4. Register and attend two MWFRA Referee training sessions – one theory and one practical session
  5. Referee on PlayFootball for the Manly Warringah Football Referees Association.

Details on each step will be sent to all those that complete the Expression of Interest form.
